We lost Margo Rita in the early morning hours of December 9, 2008.  She would have been fourteen years old in February, and was with us for all but the first eight weeks of her life.    She was the clown that entertained us, the gentle nurse that made us feel better, the teacher who taught us what is important, the friend who never doubted us, and the light that made life brighter.  There was never a day when she didn’t make me smile.  I grieve with wonder at how a tiny dog could leave such a giant hole in my heart.

Margo Rita was a 3 lb. smooth coat Chihuahua, born in  February, 1995, and shared a house with 2 humans, a long coat Chihuahua, a Yorkshire Terrier, and a Munchkin.  Margo Rita was quiet, gentle, affectionate, and fit in a pocket for the ultimate in portability.

Very small dogs are fragile and require special attention.  (Margo Rita denyed being fragile, but she liked special attention.)  Margo had some important tips for protecting a small dog.  Margo Rita was not a "teacup".   Chihuahuas come in 2 varieties, Long Coat and Smooth Coat, there is no "teacup" classification.  Read more about Margo Rita.

Margo Rita had a molera, a soft spot on the head.  This is common with Chihuahuas and is generally not a problem.

You will want to see some of Margo Rita's famous and infamous ancestors who helped defined the Chihuahua's role in history.

Tango Rae, the Yorkie, is as fearless as she is loyal and affectionate.  Cats fear her and Dackory is pretty sure she's lethal.  Tango is a "Wild Woman" who amuses and entertains with her Yorkie antics.  Tango thinks she owns all toys and especially likes toys that squeak.

Kytn Kaboodle,  is a Munchkin and has very short legs. Kaboodle was born in Colorado and thinks she is one of the dogs.  Her favorite pastime is napping, and she also enjoys harassing Dackory.   She is the official box and drawer inspector and loves her job.  We believe nothing good can happen to a cat when it goes outside, so Kaboodle never goes out.

Hickory Dackory Dawg, a long coat Chihuahua, is active and intelligent.  He has a repertoire of parlor tricks he uses to con you out of cookies.  Dackory is a working dog and the primary early warning alarm for the K-9 Home Security System.  He is also in charge of pest control and works hard to keep squirrels away from his house.
